What motivates me to create the art and crafts that I do?
The pure personal joy I derive from doing it. Then comes my desire to share my artistic accomplishments with friends, family and clients.
Because I am self taught I am not overly preoccupied with or concerned about technically correct applications or academic rules in creating art. I am not making any visual political, shocking, controversial statement or vague hidden message. When I create something, be it fine art or crafts, it is an honest representation of what came from my heart and nothing more.
Described by critics as having a style of painting that is a combination of realistic and impressionistic. It has also been said that my landscapes have a 'feeling' which invites the viewer to pause, look, relax and simply enjoy.
Awards my paintings and pyrography have received include purchase awards, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons and honorable mentions at juried as well as non-juried art shows. My paintings and woodburnings are in national and international collections, both private and corporate. |
